Description: German beer stein from the early 1900s - the era of German version of Art Nouveau called in Germany "Jugendstil". Gerz - one of the most prominent beer stein manufacturers. The stein is designed in this very distinctive German Jugendstil style - minimalistic and elegant. It represent the quintessential Jugendstil artifact with it's geometrical elements and specific repeating patterns combined with stylishly designed shape. It is made of traditional Westerwald gray saltglazed stoneware with cobalt-blue overglaze.

The lid is pewter with a presentation inscription stating that the stein was a gift from several people for someone's 25 anniversary - from 1885 to 1910. However, I attribute the stein to S.

Gerz based on the small details (handle shape and model number font). I also attribute the design to Paul Wynand - some elements are the same as on his well-known deisgns.

The stein is 11 tall to the top of the thumblift, 2 1/2 L capacity. Get images that make Supersized seem small.
