The stein depicts a man in military uniform of 1700s sitting at the tavern table with a glass of beer and a pipe. Wein und frohes Lied macht ein lustig Gemüth. Wine and a happy song make for a cheerful mind. Mässig trinken, fröhlich singen, half von je su guten Dingen.

Drinking moderately, singing happily, have always brought good things. The stein has a very ornate pewter lid with Gnome thumblift and relief picture of a tavern waitress holding several beer steins.
