Antique R. Merkelbach Jugendstil/Art Nouveau Beer Stein #3021 by E. Riegel c. 1920

Merkelbach Jugendstil/Art Nouveau Beer Stein #3021 Brown Glaze c. The artists who worked for R. Wynand and other famous designers and art professors of Art Nouveau/Jugendstil era. The stein is made of stoneware and glazed with "koelnisch braun" glaze - a very special glaze technique used exclusively by R. This design was attributed to Ernst Riegel.

The lid is pewter designed specifically for this stein. It is engraved with a presentation inscription for the Bavarian Yacht Club in Munich and dated 1920.

The stein is in excellent condition - there is no damage or repairs. The stein is marked with R. Merkelbach Grenzhausen mark and 3021 model number. This particular mark was used from mid-1916 - that means the stein was made in about 1914 - 1916 and the presentation inscription was engrave later.

The model number indicate it was made in late 1910s. The stein is 6.75 tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity.
