Bought from a private collector who claims he had it about 60 years in a cabinet, in his bar. This item was not cleaned and is in fabulous condition for being we believe is at least 121 years old! WE DO NOT SEE THIS VINTAGE & MARKINGS MUG ANYWHERE ELSE!!! ANTIQUE - SCHLITZ BEER MUG/STEIN by THUEMLER MFG Co ROCHESTER PA w/Globe Logo. It is Ceramic Mug/Stein, Made in USA.World/Globe logo" AND "The Beer that made Milwaukee famous. Made for Schlitz brewing by Thuemler Manufacturing Co. While located in Rochester, PA Only at this location for 3 years...... Also has number 10 on base (see below). So mug is between 121 and 124 years old.
And still in excellent condition (See Condition below). Very Rare can not find any TMC #10; can only find much newer versions.
The mug/Stein is approximately: 4 1/4 in High, 3 1/4 in Diameter at Base & 2 1/2 diameter at top. Not sure what number 10 is? The volume of a cylinder about 4" high & diameter of 3" is about 28 cubic inches and I think that is about 15 US fluid ounces. Any know, let me know..
I have looked at the mug and felt the outside side, inside, rim & base edges, base and handle and have found NO chips, cracks or breaks of any type. It looks near perfect to me. I added extra images and any light or white areas are from reflected light. The transfer also looks near perfect with no visible defects. In addition to no visible defects, their are no odor or grease films or other invisible problems. FYI - History of Thuemler Mfg Co. Hugo Thuemler was born in Germany in 1847. By1894, he was living in Rochester (near Pittsburgh) Pennsylvania. In 1898 Hugo was recorded as running a novelty, china & glass decoration company in Rochester Pa.
By 1901 Hugo had relocated his studio to Sewickley, again near Pittsburgh, and had a sales outlet. The majority of his business was supply of custom transfer decorated brewery steins and mugs to the breweries who used them liberally for publicity purposes. The company appears to have continued making mugs / steins until 1913? Check our 100% Feedback & Buyers comments. Please consider checking out our other items & Adding us to your favorites list.
