The Grand Tour travelers of the Victorian era - travelers of wealth and standing, created industry in tourist souvenirs, and they bought them and had them sent back home as gifts and as proofs and remembrances of their wonderful travels. This is one of those and it depicts a wheel-engraved rendering of THREE unique architecturals with captions including the "Glyptothek in Munchen" though I can't quite make out the other two. Deep ruby in color with the original hinged pewter lid and ruby glass lid insert. Wheel cut faceting around the bottom and the souvenir architectural scenes are all etched or engraved into the surface.

A beautiful stein, perfect for the stein and/or Bohemian glass collectors. Perhaps Egermann, but definitely Bohemian glass from the late 1800s. There is a chip to the front edge of the base and a scuff or two but no other chips, cracks, damage or repairs to note. We're easy to deal with. Our fine inventory is very important.
